ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr. Kevin Wortley is Associate Deputy Chancellor over the Small Business Launch Pad at Dallas College, where he leads college-wide efforts to connect entrepreneurship, small business, workforce, and educational resources into pathways for aspiring and existing business owners. A former entrepreneur and multi-unit franchisee, Kevin spent nearly a decade as President of Navis Pack & Ship (Wortley Inc.), growing the company from its first Dallas location to four franchise units across multiple markets and more than $3 million in annual revenue. His Dallas location became the first individual franchise in company history to surpass $1 million in annual sales. During his time as a Navis owner/operator, Kevin earned multiple national honors, including being named Franchisee of the Year twice, in 2007 and 2011, and representing the brand at the International Franchise Association (IFA) Annual Conference in 2012.

Kevin later transitioned into higher education and has 17 years of teaching and leadership experience, including 12 years full-time, serving as an adjunct professor, full-time professor, department chair, and academic dean prior to his current role. As an administrator, he led the School of Business, Hospitality and Global Trade through its initial ACBSP programmatic accreditation and led the development and accreditation of the school’s first bachelor’s degree, the Bachelor of Applied Science in Management, which also became Dallas College’s first competency-based degree program. He holds an EdD in Higher Education Leadership and an MBA from Southern Methodist University, and his work focuses on entrepreneurship education, franchising, workforce development, and creating stronger pathways between education and business ownership.
